Below is an example of my current project being produced, however, this design was created before university closure. The design was produced through the use of Adobe illustrator and my own creative design, which was inspired by the book 'More is More' which talks about the memphis movement and various designers and makers who follow this idea of maximalism.
By doing the design idea first on card it gives me idea of placement and how it will appear when transferred onto varying different materials. In addition, by doing it on colour card it gives me a sense of colour direction and what colours work well with the shapes, it also lets me have different off cuts to play around with when working out design compositions and exhibition placement.
Above are examples of my design's developing from card into harder materials, this being in different coloured Acrylic in this instance. As said previously the designs were inspired through the book 'More is More', but also, the designer Kandinsky and Picasso drawing through paper. This is because the lines and spacial composition mimics paper cut outs and not only this, but, the varying shapes gives individuality and a childlike demeanour that makes those who view it smile and revert to that childlike sense of happiness.
