How to develop designs in these hard times of uncertainty?

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

These past few weeks have been full of uncertainty and misfortune for many not just within the general public but also within the design community. Within this post I will be discussing my own design hacks and little tips and ideas on how you can still develop great outcomes, which, can help those out of uni.

Design Hack 1:

In the image below is an example of my own work being prepared for screen printing, but not normal printing. This printing was to be done on glass, without the use of the facilities within university I have adapted my way of thinking and decided to draw on the glass, thus, giving the illusion as if it were screen printed onto the glass. This effect shall be done with the use of #poscapens.

Design Hack 2:

Another way of altering the design's is through the use of wire. Without the use of the tools provided by universities you can acquire household objects to manipulate the wire to form varying shapes that can mimic those made with wire tools. An Example as shown in the image below, is, by using spoons to create a circular shape that can then be transformed into a lovely floral design when the compressed circles are pulled.

Design Hack 3-

Don't have a spray booth and expensive adhesive colours for your wire? No problem! you can acquire cheap spray gloss paints from wilkos or even a supermarket, by placing some kitchen roll, or, even a plastic bag down before you spray the wire this will help stop the paint from dying the ground beneath the wire. Additionally, make sure it is nice sunny weather as it will have to stay outdoors to dry, since the fumes are toxic when kept indoors.

Below is an example of the finished product.
